A musician determined to shake up the music industry

Leago Moganedi, better known as ‘EeQue The Dreama’ describes himself as a creative above anything else. He is from Kwa-Thema, and he is determined to shake up the music industry. He has worked with some of the leading acts in the music fraternity.

He outlined that he is a happy soul who avoids negativity at all times. He grew up in a musical family where new music was always introduced and therefore he always dreamt of making his own music. “I don’t even categorise myself as a rapper, I believe I’m a musician, I believe I’m an artist and therefore I am surely a creative. That’s why I’m confident enough to say my sound is more like an African trap and a mixture of a township element which I call ‘mzonkonko’. I’m also currently working with ‘Mzonkonko Records’ to ensure that the sound is fused with the brand,” added the musician. EeQue states that he started making music back in 2012, however, his career started blooming in 2018 after he met one of South Africa’s rap star, Bonginkosi Mahlangu (better known as Kid X). “I met Kid X a couple of times on certain shows that I’d at times perform at. He then started following me on social media and after listening to my few songs and he sent me a message telling me that he’d love to give me a verse on one of my songs. We made ‘Kgali kgali’ in 2019 and shot the video in Kwa-Thema. The song was big and the video made it to MTV Base,” uttered Moganedi.

The superstar also mentioned how working with icons like Kid X and Makwa6eats has been a highlight of his career and how it has also added constructive impact on his ‘New Age Mashamplan’ album. He expressed how he would love to work with Ricky Rick as he loves and respects his work. “Hard work and humbleness is key. I am thankful for the support I get from my fans. My parents and fans are the inspiration behind this. I don’t even like referring to them as ‘fans’ because I treat them as my friends. I’d like to fill stadiums and arenas, make a change in my community like taking kids to school and supporting some families financially so my brand is iKasi for iKasi. My people are the driver of this hunger for success,” the artist expressed.

In conclusion, Moganedi advises upcoming musicians to shoot clean music videos and submit them to digital platforms which broadcast because they are open for everyone who takes his craft seriously. He reveals that he will be releasing a few singles in a few days to come and an EP in the third quarter of the year. His single called ‘Slide’ is out and available on digital platforms.
