On Thursday 30 March 2023 in the Alberton area, between 09:00 and 10:00, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), arrested four (4) male suspects for possible dealing in drugs and prohibited drugs, were confiscated.
Following an ongoing operation aimed at cracking down on drug dealers, the DEU Officers visited Roodekop informal settlement and Potgieter Road in the Alberton area. Four (4) male suspects between the ages of 28 to 40, were collectively found in possession of thirty-two (32) zip lock bags of dagga, twenty-three (23) zip lock bags of Crystal Meth, eight (zip lock bags of Rock, six (6) full, two (2) half and nine (9) quarter mandrax tablets with nine (9) packets of nyaope, valued at five thousand seven hundred and sixty rands (R5760), as well as eighty-nine rands (R89) in cash.
The handcuffed suspects facing charges of ‘possession and possible dealing in illicit substance’, were marched to the Alberton police station. They are expected to appear, at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
The EMPD applauds members of the community, who assist in bringing lawbreakers to book and keeping the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) free from unauthorised drug trafficking.
