Wandille Ndlovu(26) who was born in Etwatwa, and raised in KwaThema started drawing when he was in primary school. The passionate young man began by drawing cartoons and then he gradually progressed to drawing soccer players.
According to him the first picture he drew of a soccer player was good, but he decided to give it up during his primary school years. He continued drawing in high school and he was also giving away his sketches for free. However in year 2017, he decided to draw a picture of a random girl and that’s how he actually realised that he was good in drawing.
Ndlovu spoke to Ekurhuleni News, saying: “After all those years, in 2017 that’s when I actually realised that I am really good in drawing. I am a big fan of any form of art, whether music, photography, painting, etc. I love drawing as one can create someone or something so real through a pencil and paper. What normally stands out for me when it comes to drawing is the realness of the art and its beauty. Currently I am doing drawing as a hobby, however if I were to be given a chance to do it full time, I would not hesitate to take a chance as it is something that is so dear to my heart. I have also realised that the more you draw the better you become which brings the proverb “practice makes perfect” to reality. The more you do it the more perfect you become. I do not have enough time on my on my side because I have another job; therefore I am free on weekends, sometimes but not always.
As someone who’s also into drawing, I have realised that it needs one to be consistent, dedicated, they should never sleep on their talent as it is something rare and it’s not everyone who is able to do it, the use of YouTube makes it easy for anyone to understand their chosen field, normalise using YouTube to become better at what you do. I advise people in general to inspire the world with their talents, be the change you want to see, be different, be a hard-worker and give it your all every time.”
