ActionSA to Raise Joburg Investigation Directive in Coalition Meeting

ActionSA has noted an alarming allegation relating to a directive alleged to have been issued by Mayor Mpho Phalatse directing the appointment of a particular service provider to investigate a senior manager in the City of Johannesburg.

We are at pains to point out that this matter was unknown to ActionSA and our representatives in the Mayoral Committee and local coalition structures were unaware of the matter.

ActionSA will be engaging our coalition partners to ensure that this issue is discussed at a national Coalition Oversight Group (COG) scheduled for tomorrow. This meeting is established to address similar concerns under investigation relating to the Kratos proposal in the City of Tshwane.

Should it be found that the contents of the letter are true, this would be a serious concern to ActionSA because we cannot be in coalitions where political leaders issue procurement decisions to the municipal officials.

ActionSA entered coalitions which committed all parties to good governance and to be better than the ANC governments we removed in the first place.

We will be engaging our coalition partners to ensure this matter is addressed in a transparent manner and place our hope in the idea that this document is inauthentic.
