Thokozani Sibeko is an entrepreneur in the poultry industry. He established his business in May 2019.
Thokozani Egg and Meat Production is based in Vosloorus. Thokozani started his poultry business because he always had a passion for it, “I want to change the narrative that poultry is for old people. The youth must start engaging in poultry farming. The demand for poultry products is rapidly growing,” Sibeko expressed. Thokozani is seeking funds to broaden his business by adding more products to his product range. Thokozani Egg and Meat Production is favoured by its target audience because it has a favourable brand identity. Sibeko has a certificate in digital and social media marketing which assists in reaching the business’ target audience.
To start his business his mother took a loan for him that was worths R6000 (six thousand rands). Currently, his business has three full-time employees and one part-time employee. Sibeko reckons his business, is unique from his competitors because they focus on growth, and they make sure to create employment opportunities. “We are currently seeking funds so that we can employ other young people from the township,” Thokozani expressed. Thokozani Egg and Meat Production is also working on a project to supply orphanage homes in Vosloorus with eggs.
“Our strengths are that we have extensive knowledge about the poultry industry, and we are cost-effective in the marketing department. Our weakness is that we lack access to capital, and we currently use motorbikes to deliver so we do not operate on rainy days,” Thokozani concluded.
