The City of Ekurhuleni joins the homecoming celebration of the Banyana-Banyana national team, who arrived in Ekurhuleni, OR Tambo International Airport today after winning the Women’s Africa Cup of Nation (WAFCON) in Morocco on Saturday.
While welcoming throngs of fans who descended on OR Tambo International Airport in Kempton Park, the Executive Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni Alderman Tania Campbell, said,
“Today is a special day for all South Africans, and it comes at a time when the national morale has been low due to the rising cost of living, the spate of tavern killings and our energy supply issues with Eskom.
However, Banyana-Banyana has given us a reason to be energised and inspired again. Banyana-Banyana has made us proud, and their win will go a long way towards nation-building. We know you will do exceptionally well in the upcoming World Cup.”
