Gauteng Provincial Legislature Portfolio Committee on Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, led by the Chairperson Honourable William Matsheke wish to congratulate Mamelodi Sundowns FC on winning the ABSA PSL Championship, this is the second Championship in a row for “Bafana Ba Style”.
The nail-biting finish to the Championship saw Mamelodi Sundowns FC emerge as Champions on the last day of the ABSA PSL after overtaking Kaizer Chiefs FC, whom had been leading the League for the better part of the season. It confirms that through dedication, hard work and never giving up one will emerge as Champions said Chairperson Matsheke.
The people of Greater Tshwane are definitely in a jubilant spirit after “Bafana Ba Style” yet again reached for the sky. This is evident by their motto that “The Sky is the Limit” on behalf of the soccer loving people of Gauteng we want to congratulate Mamelodi Sundowns FC players and their management for making sure the cup remains in Gauteng. We wish them all the best for the Nedbank Cup Final. Gauteng is indeed a home of Champions.
This has been the most exciting finish to the League Championship in recent history though under difficult circumstances when the country is faced with the challenges of the COVID19 pandemic. We would further want to thank the Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) in partnering with the PSL in making sure that the League concludes its season.
