CRISMO, a clinical research company exercised the spirit of giving on Mandela Day.
The Germiston-based clinical research company organised two events in commemoration of Nelson Mandela Day.
18 July, which is Mandela’s birthday was declared by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) as Nelson Mandela International Day in 2010.
The celebration of this international day recognizes and gives credence to the former President’s commitment to human rights, conflict resolution, and reconciliation.
This day encourages individuals to make a difference in their communities by taking action and inspiring change.
On this day each year, we are urged to spend 67 minutes (1 hour and 7 minutes) doing something good and useful for someone or our community. The 67 minutes symbolize the number of years the former president fought for human rights and the abolition of apartheid.
CRISMO, spent the day hosting two events that contribute to the betterment of Ekurhuleni community, Gauteng province and South Africa.
The Germiston-based clinical research company kicked off Mandela Day by spending an hour at EK FM (103.6) presenting a career talk show focussing on Careers/ Professions relevant in the Clinical Trial setting. This information was shared by: Communications Officer and Stakeholder representative.
On the other hand, the clinical team hosted a Mandela Day event at the Elandsvallei Old Age Home in Primrose, Germiston.
The Crismo team lead by the Executive Director: Mr. Gama Major Cindi, was well received by the Elandsvallei staff and residents. Both organisations provided a quick overview of the services they provide while enjoying tea and pastries organized by Crismo.
The Executive Director of CRISMO, Mr. Gama Cindi, provided a brief history of CRISMO as well as the milestones and clinical research studies in which CRISMO has participated.
The clinical team then went on to provide free health exams and health education to the Germiston-based Old Age Home.
The residents were kept entertained and played games with the CRISMO team.
“Not only was this event in celebration of the life of the former President, but at CRISMO, we believe in Community involvement, community participation and community development”.
