On Sunday, 21 April 2024, the Social Crime Prevention/Communications, Sector Commanders, and Daveyton Assembly Of God Church led a prayer for the protection of the Daveyton community.
Pastor Msomi of the Daveyton AOG welcomed the prestigious guests with goodwill and warmth. He assured the SAPS that the church is in full support of them and they will be always in their prayers.
“We are very pleased to have you in our midst. This is such an important gathering and we will make sure that it is not the last one,” he said.
Pastor Msomi quoted a verse from the Bible, Romans 13:1, “Let every soul be in subjection to the higher powers: for there is no power but of God; and the powers that be are ordained of God.” This was an emphasis on the importance of adhering to the law put forward by those in power.
The congregation of the Assembly Of God Church were made aware of the crime occurring around the area and the robberies in churches. Daveyton SAPS urged the community members to participate in community policing to assist in fighting crime and report to the police.
All the procedures of reporting crime were explained to them, and they were assured that assistance will always be provided at Daveyton police station.
The community members were also urged to refrain from parking their vehicles on the pavement at night and seating inside them, as this poses great danger of hijacking. They were informed that should any person open a case docket in the hope of compensation from the respondent, that person will be arrested without fail.
The community members were also asked to always or regularly check the school bags of their children before going to school, as this might help in lowering the chances of learners bringing dangerous weapons and illegal substances to school premises. Parents were asked to sit and talk with their children in kindness as this will make it easier for them to talk to their parents about almost anything and for their safety
