Easily eradicate heavy struggles with laughter at News Café

Siblings who have been doing stand-up comedy for 15 years, Hilda ‘Sista H’(40) and Tshepo Sethosa(34), will be cracking profound jokes when they host the double-act stand-up comedy show dubbed Thicker Than Water at 20:00 till 23:30 at  News Café in Emperors Palace, on March 30.

According to Tshepo, they have decided to do the duo comedy show to celebrate 15 years of being in the comedy industry together.

“It’s rare to see siblings pursuing the same career so we are taking this opportunity to show people that it’s possible for siblings to do the same thing and still support each other.  Our story is interesting my sister is the one who started doing stand-up comedy and two months after I followed,” explained Tshepo.

Tshepo stated that it’s their first time doing a double-act stand-up comedy, but they have been attending same events before.

“I’m an observational comedian; most of my jokes are social commentary orientated. I believe I fell and became trapped in comedy it was not something I was pursuing. I got introduced into it when I was doing my audio-visual diploma. I was invited on stage and I cracked jokes, thereafter I was paid and I couldn’t believe it that you can actually get on stage tell jokes then be paid for it,” he expressed.

He added that he believes they are doing the show at the right time because South Africa is currently a sad country which can thrive in fun times.

“Our role as comedians is to make people forget their problems,” said Tshepo.

Hilda said they have been in the comic industry for some time so they want people to experience them as siblings.

“The show is going to be one of a kind, nothing that people have ever seen before, laughter will be the order of the night,” she assured.

She mentioned that as comedians they take themselves as healers.

“Laughter can easily eradicate the heavy struggles that one carries on a daily basis. To be a comedian you have to be passionate about telling jokes, be consistent and teachable, and most importantly be creative and stay humble.

People who want to experience exciting jokes from the siblings can buy tickets for the double-act stand-up comedy show for R200 at Quicket.
