ECD centres aided in Kwa-Thema

Keamogetswe Masike from KwaThema has been working immensely hard in Ekurhuleni particularly in KwaThema by aiding ECD centres.

Through his non-profit organisation called ‘Keamogestwe M Foundation’ he has offered a helping hand to 15 ECD centres (Crèches) in KwaThema (Ekurhuleni) by delivering food to them.

His foundation has adopted 327 children thus far under its feeding scheme program; it supports those children and their families on monthly basis. The foundation has been operating for two years. Masike shared how he was removed from a poverty stricken community and after that liberating turning point, he vowed to change his life and uplift those who are underprivileged.

Masike divulged to Ekurhuleni News, saying that, “I’m assisting children who are coming from disadvantaged families, those who are struggling financially, and the ones with unemployed parents. I assist them in order to make a difference in their lives. We empower children to access quality education and skills development programmes.

“My aim is to curb malnutrition because it is the main culprit that causes diseases to millions of children in the world. A lot of children are living on unhealthy diets because they can’t access nutritional food.

“As Keamogetswe M Foundation our core responsibility is to make sure no child goes to bed hungry. Children who are struggling to grow are victims of the double burden of malnutrition: under-nutrition and hidden hunger. Almost two in three children between six months and two years of age are not fed food that supports their rapidly growing bodies and brains. This puts them at risk of poor brain development, weak learning, low immunity, increased infections, and in many cases death.

“In order for children to grow properly, they must eat a well-balanced diet. Our other objective is to close the food security gab in marginalized households with our organisational criteria being: the elderly, child headed homes, persons with disabilities as well as public ECDs.

Under-nutrition affects ten millions of children around the world including those in the poorest countries. Now as Keamogetswe M Foundation our main aim is to eradicate the social issues in accordance with our sustainable development goals,” he clarified.

People who wish to assist can engage with him on WhatsApp on: 061 156 7851 or call: 065 847 8291.
