Blessing Mtetwa, a 16-year-old dancer and choreographer with over 10 years of experience on stage, managed to secure a lifetime opportunity to represent Ekurhuleni and showcase her talent on an international stage at the International Modelling and Talent Convention in New York City, July 2022.
Mtetwa was scouted on Instagram to audition for the International Arts and Talent Showcase (IATS), a talent show where you stand a chance in receiving an international callback to attend the International modelling and Talent convention in America.“Since I received the IMTA callback, I’ve been working non-stop in improving my skills and talent,” said Mtetwa.
The choreographer gets inspiration from the likes of Angelo Mokonenyane, William Khalo, Matt Stefanina, Sean Lew, and Bailey Sok on top of the list, and other dance choreographers. Like everyone else, she has a method of putting her work together which is to first check what mood she is in, who is the routine for, what is it about, then find suitable music, and getting comfortable with the song then it’s a go.
“One of the best routines I have seen is the routine from “ll: An unspoken narrative” scene #4. We have three brilliant dancers, Sean Lew, Bailey Sok, and Julian Deguzmen, dancing in a dark room with DVDs hanging from the ceiling and they start off by doing the same routine then break up into their routine where we can see their unique style of dance. They then dance together again for the last bit then fade into the darkroom with DVDs hanging from the ceiling,” said Mtetwa, when asked to describe the best dance routine she’s ever seen.
“I have expanded my knowledge, creativity, and skills into artistic areas, like modelling, make-up, digital art, and running a baking business.” added the star.
Mtetwa is a highly motivated and dedicated artist who is constantly perfecting her craft and specialises mainly in Hip-Hop choreography.
She continues to lead by example, being an inspiration to her siblings, peers, and her generation through her character, dedication, and talents.
Blessing Mtetwa hopes to spark up some more talents in the community while building up her artistic portfolio.
