Starting a new school year can be a bit nerve-wracking, especially when you’re making new friends. This is exactly what happened on the first day of the 2024 school year. Children from all over the country were preparing for classes, and teachers were gearing up for a fresh start.
The little ones who were in Grade R proudly wore their new uniforms, showing off their backpacks and hairstyles to their new friends. Katlego Intermediate School in Daveyton, part of Ekurhuleni, welcomed new students in Grade R, and Grade 1, and some who were transferring in. It looks like their numbers are going up!
The assembly was a lively start to the day, filled with laughter, reunions, and songs. Principal Mntambi assured the kids and their parents that there’s a strict no-bullying policy at the school, and the kids are in safe hands. Teachers happily waited outside their nicely decorated classrooms for students to arrive. Parents stood on the sidelines, watching their little ones take on this new stage of life.
For the Class of 2023, the days leading up to matric results day have been a real test of patience and endurance as they navigate this emotional journey. Just like the first graders, their journey is a mix of fear and excitement. As the academic year begins, there’s hope for a fantastic year ahead for these young minds.
