Phenomenal female Jazz deejays brought their remarkable skill sets to the Earth and Wind Woman’s Jazz session at Four Degrees East Pub in Zesfontein (Benoni) on August 28.
The event was graced by various female Jazz deejays who kept the audience captivated as they played melodic Jazz music from the likes of Shirly Scott, Brian Adam, Milt Buckner, and other renowned jazz musicians.
One of the deejays, Jane Khumalo, who played exceptionally well in the groovy arena, who resides in Kwa-Thema, alluded, saying, “I started playing Jazz music in 2010 after my husband introduced me to the music. From there on I became fond of the music because it is for cool and dignified individuals.
“We have a Jazz club which is called the ‘New Port Jazz’ consisting of female deejays and we are usually offered a platform to ply our trade here at Four Degrees East Pub, we appreciate and thank the organisers of the Jazz session because if it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t be here today,” she divulged.
Another Deejay-Ellan Xaba -who resides in Vosloorus, who amazed the crowd with her authentic playlist grabbed the opportunity to enlighten the local newspaper about her journey in the Jazz music genre, explaining how Jazz transformed her life, “I started attending Jazz sessions and luckily at Kasie FM they gave me a Jazz slot. In 2019 I received a Jazz appreciation certificate; I wish I had been granted an opportunity to play the whole duration of the event because I love entertaining people,” she enthusiastically uttered.
