The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bronberg Precinct Officers conducted a drunk driving operation in the Crystal Park area on Friday, April 28, 2023, at or around 15:00. Five (5) suspects, aged 18 to 35, were detained for bribery and driving while intoxicated.
The authorities stopped and checked numerous automobiles while conducting their operation on Kingsway Road. Officers pulled down a white Polo Vivo, and the 35-year-old African male driver—who was believed to be intoxicated—was transported there right away to give a blood sample. He was then placed under custody. Durant and Birch Roads saw continued activity during the operation,
An additional four individuals were detained for driving while intoxicated as the operation went on along Durant and Birch Roads. A 28-year-old male suspect taxi driver among the drunken defendants tried his luck by attempting to bribe the police, and he was charged with extra bribery.
All of the individuals who had been detained were held at the Crystal Park Police Station. The accused are scheduled to show up at the Benoni Magistrates Court soon, where they are expected to face charges of driving while intoxicated and bribery.
