Members of the community in Villa Liza (Freedom Park section) combined their strengths to clean up their neighbourhood on ‘Mandela day’ (18th of July).
Speaking to Ekurhuleni news the organisers of the event Petrus Lupheane and Thuli Nkosi said this is their way of commemorating the great work done by ‘Madiba’ and as the country is still in a rebuilding and restoration phase, they saw it fit to rise up and take part.
“With all that is happening in the country we need to unite and work together,” said Thuli Nkosi.
Members of the public came in numbers to clean up their surroundings in Freedom Park. Investigations done by this publication showed that Freedom Park residents were the only group that teamed up to clean up their section in Villa Liza.
“We are leading by example but that doesn’t necessarily mean others are at fault, we want them to follow in our footsteps by working hand-in-hand with the government,” Mr Lupheane said.
