It’s clear that the ANC’s time in charge of Gauteng is coming to an end. The guy in charge of money stuff, Jacob Mamabolo, presented the last boring budget before the 2024 elections.
The FF Plus thinks this is the last budget the ANC will make in Gauteng.
The ANC’s performance in the elections will probably be as boring as the budget they want to force on Gauteng voters.
Once again, the budget wants to waste money on silly plans that will only make the province poorer.
And the ANC can’t even spend the money they already have properly as we saw with many departments not spending enough last year.
Mamabolo himself said it’s a big problem in his speech.
In this budget, the ANC is again relying on the state to create jobs by hiring lots of unemployed people for jobs that won’t last. They’re also giving contracts to many businesses in townships.
The ANC’s biggest mistake is thinking the government can make jobs, instead of realizing they should help businesses grow.
The ANC is failing to make Gauteng a good place for businesses to invest in.
Instead of using money to help with problems like crime, they’re spending it on hiring lots of untrained peace wardens and buying fancy security stuff. This could make Gauteng feel like a police state and take away people’s freedom.
People are worried about the peace wardens because they’re being trained by the Defence Force, not the police.
It’s also worrying that they’re cutting the budget for Social Services when so many people need help because of unemployment.
The ANC thinks they can save money by putting all social services under one department, but that department messed up with the Life Esidimeni tragedy.
The ANC needs to support community organizations that help with social services instead of ignoring them.
Besides the fact that this budget is all wrong in many ways, the ANC is also getting more debt to pay for 30% of SANRAL’s e-toll debt.
So, they’re getting even more debt when they can’t spend all the money they have.
They’re spending money on things that won’t make lasting jobs and making a defence force to do police work, which isn’t their job.
This budget is just a plan for the ANC’s election campaign, but it won’t work because it doesn’t make sense economically.
This boring budget shows that the ANC’s time in Gauteng is ending, and a government with FF Plus as a partner will take over after the elections to save the province.
