HEALTHCARE WORKERS APPLAUDED FOLLOWING WEEKEND VACCINATION DRIVE

Ekurhuleni health care workers administered over 19 000 of COVID-19 vaccines during the Vooma vaccination weekend campaign which started on Friday, 12 November and ended on Sunday 14 November.

Head of the City’s Health and Social Development Department Dr Gilbert Motlatla said: “While efforts are in place to help increase the vaccine uptake, none of this would be possible without the dedicated team of health professionals who have been steadfast in fighting this global pandemic.

We thank all our professional nurses and health care personnel for making all government’s efforts a success.”

The Health Department’s breakdown revealed that over the past weekend a total of 11 340 doses administered were first doses and 7 676 were doses given to residents coming for their second inoculation.

The aim of the Vooma vaccination weekend campaign follows a call by President Cyril Ramaphosa to all sectors to support the country’s COVID-19 vaccine programme.
