Katlehong Crime Prevention unit members received a call early in the morning on the 20th of August 2020 as they were about to report for duty, regarding a stolen truck with goods at Moleleki, Ext 4.Fortunately the call was from the owner of the truck who managed to track down his own truck in Katlehong Moleleki Ext 4. Police swiftly drove to the given address, on arrival, a big trailer was found with three African Males busy offloading the goods from the truck, luckily they had no chance to escape, the Police officers apprehended all three suspects aged 28 years old, 36 years old and a 46-year-old on the spot. According to the truck owner, the truck was loaded with more than sixty(60) pallets of washing powder to the value estimated to more than five hundred thousand rand(R500 000).
Further investigation revealed that the horse and trailer truck was hijacked at midnight in a Wadeville Factory. Suspects arrested will be charged with unlawful possession of hijacked truck, goods and they are also likely to be charged with truck hijacking. The new Katlehong station Commander Brigadier Albertina Vesi applauded the quick response by the Crime Prevention members and stated that, “I appreciate the effort made by the officers for not granting any opportunity for the suspects to escape, I strongly request Katlehong communities to work together with the police by reporting any criminal activities occurring in their presents,” Vesi pleaded. However the three suspects are expected to appear in the Palm Ridge high court soon. Investigations into this case are continuing
