On Saturday, the 25th, and Sunday, the 26th of February 2023, Langaville’s Finest, in collaboration with Ekasi Fashion Week, Sfumato, Meetse, Barbarcue Sound Solutions, and City Waldorf student accommodation celebrated Gift’s 28th birthday sale event at 2783 Huhluwe Street in Langaville ext. 1.
Langaville’s Finest is a fashionable clothing brand that was established in 2016 by Gift Makeke, and the inspiration behind the brand is his personal story of victory and resilience. The brand design and sell what they call the finest steez.
Talking to Makeke, he said that the event was hosted before in Johannesburg CBD however they had to develop the product before taking it back to the township where the story originates from, at his father’s house, where he was born. Another reason is that events such as street fashion shows, cyclers convoy-themed steez ride, where cyclers wear Langaville’s Finest clothes and paraded the streets of Langaville, and live performances outdoor events were never hosted before in Langaville.
“To eco the values of the brand that it is from great mess to greatness, Langaville was a perfect place to host the event, and also for children in my area to witness greatness from someone who grew in that area” Makeke continued.
He mentioned that they are planning to expand the brand, and collaborate with institutions and as many people as possible, to a point where they create opportunities for young people.
“We are also planning to do more of such events in the townships because the reception was amazing, which indicated that there is a gap for such events”.
