Learners given school uniforms

Annual dress a learner is an initiative that aims to uplift the community more especially learners that are underprivileged and who are determined to make their dreams a reality.

Themba Molefe foundation hosted this event in Slotjhile, Tembisa. They gave teachers a number of learners that they should select so the learners can at least have school uniform so that they can look beautiful like the others kids in school.

MMC Nkosindiphile Xakaza was also part of the event and he uttered, saying, “we all know how important education is and if we start by taking or playing our parts in these children’s lives, we are planting a seed that will yield fruits in the future. We may think that the kids are still young but time flies, so we need to nurture them and motivate them to do better so that they can lead or be police officers, as one of the kids mentioned, “He said with a radiant smile.

Learners were given a platform to sing and answer questions and they did that exceptionally well, and some won bag packs and that motivated others to participate in the activities that were done. Learners left the place with delightful smiles.

Zanele Nkomo who is one of the people from parliament, shared her story about her upbringing and path to occupying a position in parliament. “I know it may look hard now but look at a bigger picture. I’ve been one of the people that struggled during my school years but I thrived and persevered to be where I am and I believe each one of you can be anything you want to be, only if you believe and work hard on it,” she clarified.

Teachers were happy for the learners, and showed appreciation to the founders for starting this initiative to support and shape the kids towards a bright future.

Valentines told the parents, teachers and the guest that we all need to play our part in raising our kids to be better people. It takes a village to raise a child and we are the right people to do that, maybe we are helping a girl child who will be our first president of the country.

Themba Molefe showed that and the parents will forever be grateful for that, there’s so many kids that are disadvantaged, but we had to choose 20 which was hard, but we are hoping that next time it won’t be 20 but more than that,” said Nkadimeng a teacher at the school.

All the founders showed gratitude to the founder of Slotjhile Pub and Tshisanyama because if the place was close, they wouldn’t be hosting the event. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed being at the venue.

They hope to give more than 20 learners in the school in the future.
