Lezza to release an inspirational EP

A young uprising artist, Hendrick Lesetja Kgomo (22), who was born and bred in Villa Liza, Boksburg released an epic LP. His famously known by his stage name ‘Lezza’ and he started his music career in 2010 at the age of 11 as a DJ and now his a qualified sound engineer, vocalist/rapper, music producer and a young owner of a tender aged Record label called Grind Records.

He also does photography and cinematography as a side hustle. From a young age Lezza always wanted to travel the world. He shared with Ekurhuleni News, saying, “I remember I’ve always told my friend that I want to have a house in China but overtime music became the love of my life, I was always busy with gigs at clubs and parties before I became a vocalist and a music producer at a young age.”

He continued divulging to Ekurhuleni News how his music career started “I remember it all started in 2010, the year of the world cup, in December I went to visit in Limpopo as it was just a regular visit and one of my cousin’s (Johnny) came with a laptop and he was a DJ at the Family gathering. There was a time when my cousin was drunk. It was the time Professor’s song ‘Jezabel’ was still popular so he called me up on the laptop and asked me to DJ, I was like, I can’t do that, he then showed me around the software, I was a fast learner so in a few minutes I was already feeling the vibe and making people dance so from there onwards I started falling in love with it.

“I did not grow up in a rich family so luckily my dad had a laptop; I then started stealing the laptop. I would DJ when he’s at work. Then I was introduced to FL studio that was when I started producing house music, gospel and hip hop, I was never biased when it came to genre, I loved every type of music, so I gained real production skills with the help of YouTube. I studied Sound Engineering as it was hard getting my parents to support me but eventually they did.” The EP that will be dropping soon is called BRKN EP. This EP is inspired by the hardships that Lezza has gone through; it’s mostly stories about people who are close to him he hopes that some people heal through this EP. His journey has been great as he receives excellent feedback from people and how inspired they get through his music. Lezza added that “in general it really has been a great experience even though getting my music to be heard by people is quite hard. “

Lezza spoke to Ekurhuleni News about his plans, “My plan for the next 2-5 years is to expose my brand “Lezza”, I want my music to be known, and I want it to spread to other countries. I want to start getting more gigs both online and offline and get myself out there, as I’ll be releasing my own brand a few years from now and I’m currently preparing to shoot a few movies and series, and I just signed two artists, namely; T.R.U.T.H (Tshepiso Nxumalo) and D.A.G (Sechaba Mokhali), both of them are making good hip Hop/RnB music that will change the world.

“I’d love to send a shoutout to all my fans, and I’d love to encourage everyone who looks up to me by telling them that it’s never too late to start, it’s never too early. I know parents can be discouraging, especially when you are young and still in school, but push , try to make them understand, trust me, at some point they will understand, as soon as they see progress they will be proud of you,” Lezza divulged.
