Local’s book aims to equip children

Reading has always been categorised as a tiresome exercise however Nonkululeko Nkosi and Amanda Mahlangu aim to change the narrative.

Through their company, READ Aloud Book Corner, have self-published their first book “Khanya’s first day at the park”.

“We wanted to spread reading awareness literature, making reading fashionable using our company”.

Nonkululeko said that they did not only want to write the book but also make sure that the book is in the hands of children. “That’s why the company purchased and donated 100 books to children’s centres”

They advised people who would love to self-publish their books to do thorough research about the kind of genre they want to write, know their audience, to connect and network with people within the industry. “You must be part of that community to know what to do and where to go” Nonkululeko continued.

On the 26 of November, there is a book drive to Nyeleti Children’s Home in Crystal Park, and anyone wishing to donate can contact either of them at Amzy-a3 / Nkuli-nono Nonkululeko further said that people should expect another book early next, and their organisation collaborating with more NPO to push the narrative and creating reading awareness.
