The Springs police arrested a thirty seven (37) year-old man for murder, following a brutal Assault.
The incident took place on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at about 22:00 in 3rd street a Springs CBD right next to the Pingo’s take away shop.
A report by Sergeant Maruping Maphanya stated that it is alleged that 2 sector police officers from the Springs SAPS were on patrol when approached by 2 homeless men who reported that they witnessed a male being assaulted with a stone on the head and laying on the sidewalk.
The police responded and found the victim that was bleeding from his face, the ambulance was called. While waiting for the ambulance the police received info of a person fitting the suspects at the next street and rushed to investigate. On their return, they found the suspect had returned to the scene of the crime and was busy assaulting the victim again and was apprehended and arrested immediately.
The victim was taken to Far East Rand hospital where he later died from the injuries. Police are investigating a case of murder.
