The Executive Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni, Cllr Mzwandile Masina pleaded with the community members of Vosloorus to look after the new Telle Mogoerane taxi rank which was officially opened today on 20th of October,2021.
The number one citizen of the City of Ekurhuleni couldn’t conceal his excitement when he officially opened the transportation precinct and he even took the opportunity to appeal to community members and the Vosloorus &Boksburg District Taxi Association (VBDTA) members to keep the precinct intact and clean.
“This taxi rank was inspired by the hospital that is called Telle Mogoerane which is just opposite it, In the 70’s people only depended on trains and buses as mediums of transportation, but ever since taxis were introduced almost 95% of passengers are now relying on them, it shows they have become more popular among the people.
“So today we have come here to hand over the taxi rank to the community of Vosloorus and VBDTA, and we are expecting this taxi rank to remain clean and intact. Please take care of this taxi rank,” Masina pleaded.
The chairperson of the VBDTA Bheki Mbatha affectionately known as ‘BSO’ pledged to keep the taxi rank clean and beautiful. “We will surely look after this rank as the VBDTA, I’m happy to be part of this programme today, this taxi rank is indeed beautiful, and I’m standing here today as a proud and dignified man, I would like to thank the mayor of the metro for giving us this beautiful structure. I’m also pleading with the members of the community to protect this taxi rank.
“The taxis that will be operating on this rank will be going to various areas around Gauteng,” Mbatha declared.
