Ugqozi Entertainment will be hosting its second open mic jam session themed ‘Bring your Voice’ on Sunday (18th of April) in Vosloorus, Tshiruruvhela Street, Ext 9.
These open mic jam sessions offers African soul musicians and bands a platform to showcase their musical talents. The first session which was hosted last month comprised of a whole range of musicians that kept the audience intrigued, they were also drooling to the sizzling performances of artists who never disappointed as they grabbed the microphone on stage.
The segments give various artists a chance to compete and draw in interests that will offer them enough exposure.
The host of the musical sessions who is also the founder of Ugqozi Entertainment, Bhekisizwe Mokoena when he was interviewed, he expressed in great detail on why he came up with the musical empowering and uplifting jam sessions, saying, “I formed this musical sessions, because I love music and the other reason is that I like seeing musicians performing their different authentic music.“My plan is to invite bands and musicians from different townships in the City of Ekurhuleni and offer them a platform to compete, and in that wave, the sessions will be interesting and thereafter draw in opportunities for the artists.
“The sessions are strictly for professional musicians who are vocalists and those who are good in their chosen musical instruments and they stringently exclude Hip hop and Kwaito musicians because artists in those genres are already upheld and offered enough performing opportunities, however in the music segments the audience can anticipate great nights filled with melodic music, exclusive performances, an electrifying environment and a meal to die for,” Mokoena stressed.
