Suspects were nabbed for various cases during the operations which were conducted by the Vispol members from the 7th – 8th of May 2020 in Ekurhuleni.
The operations were rolled out to restore order and to ensure that civilians are abiding to the law , liquor outlets were checked if they had compliance licences, routine street patrols were made,stop and search standard procedures were implemented during the operations and drugs, dagga, dangerous weapons, illegal firearms and stolen properties were recovered by the Vispol police members.
In Kwa – Thema a man was arrested for allegedly shooting a person in Duduza Taxi rank before the operation started. The Victim was taken to the nearest hospital. During the operation the suspect was traced, he was found in possession of two unlicensed firearms and he was detained in Kwa – Thema Police station.
Initially in Heriodale suburb which is located in the Germiston area, Police spotted a Toyota Quantum full of suspects masquerading as security guards and they stopped it, the Police were stunned by the occupants of the vehicle, because when they saw the police approaching them, they got off the vehicle and bolted. However the Police officers managed to arrest 3 suspects and 6 unlicensed firearms were recovered and one of the firearms seized belongs to state, but its serial number was cancelled. The suspects were taken to Germiston Police precinct for detention.
The District Commissioner Major General Anna Mateisi is very much impressed and thanked the Police for their cooperation and hard-work which yielded the successful arrests.
