Pupils enlightened about the importance of reading

The Youngage foundations NPC sponsored by Two Mountains and collaboratively working with The Gracious Gift Foundation, The 100% Foundation, Thapelo Community Projects and Reach 4 life organisation initiated a Heritage Reading drive at Igagsi primary school, on September 29.

Louisa Molise the founder of Youngage Foundation NPC explained in detail, saying: “We brought our Heritage reading drive here at Igagasi primary school because we strongly believe that reading is part of our culture as human beings, I was told to focus on reading from an early age by my late mother who was the principal of this school. So I’m here to pass on the advice which was imparted to me by her.

“Over the years I have also learned that reading keeps you informed and to a large extent, it can improve your vocabulary as a person. We are handing out bibles, teddy bears, sanitisers and sanitary pads to the pupils who are here today,” she divulged.

A grade 4 student from Igagsi primary school, Puselatso Ntobela who was overwhelmed by elation said, “I have learned so much about the importance of reading today and most importantly I have learned about the most important attribute of life which is self-respect, I will read all the books I have received today because I want to be a well-informed individual.”

Fikile Poka who attended the initiative, representing two organisations which are Heartlines and Reach 4 life shared, saying: “We decided to be hereafter we heard about Louisa’s story of losing her mother who was the principal of this school, we could relate so we decided to come and pay tribute to the principal of the school by donating books and doling out a session that deals with grief,” Poka expressed.

The Corporate Affairs Consultant of Two Mountains, Mpho Mawarela, also expressed, stating: “We joined this initiative because we believe it gives an opportunity to do our CSI because by being part of it we are giving back to the community we serve, we funded Youngage Foundations NPC in this initiative and we hope more organisations will join us in the future in this good course, so we can uplift more indigent people in our communities,” he concluded.
