The Benoni Library reopened to the public on Friday following four months of renovations which cost the City R3.7 million. The 47-year-old library was renovated to offer better services to the community while inspiring creativity.
The renovations that were undertaken include:
- Replacement and waterproofing of the leaking roof;
- Installation of new carpets throughout the entire facility;
- Brightening of the walls with new colourful paintings;
- Repair of the air conditioning system;
- Installation of ceramic tiles in the reception area; and
- The installation of new toilet facilities.
The City anticipates that patrons will love spending their time at the new-look facility which provides a new environment that is safe and more comfortable and well-resourced.
