A drive-by memorial service was held by Ekurhuleni District Police at Edleen, in Kempton Park on the 1st of September 2021 in order to honour their Colleague Sergeant Nonjabulo Sharon Mogale who was shot and killed by unknown suspects on the 26th of August 2021 in one of the retail shops at Esangweni Section, Tembisa South.
The member was described as a ‘Soldier’ by her colleagues and friends because she managed to remove some of the children from the streets and placed them in different NGOs since she was passionate about working with the members of the public. The memorial service was graced by the District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole, Members from the Prosecuting Authority, Community Policing Forum, Member from the parliament Refiloe Ntsikitle, Gauteng Traffic Deputy Director Mdumisi and the Youth Desk from Tembisa South SAPS.
Major General Anna Sithole mentioned that it was the saddest moment to mourn an “Imbokodo ” who served Gauteng with pride. She further encouraged the family members to keep on praying in order for the suspects to pay for what they did and to read the biblical scripture John 14 which advises people not to let their hearts to be troubled since God is the only one who heals the broken hearts. Sergeant Nonjabulo Mogale was laid to rest on Saturday the 4th of September at one of the graveyards in Pretoria.
