Between last night (20 Aug) and in the early hours of today, the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit Members on an all-night crime prevention operation, arrested seven (7) male and female alleged drug dealers, in Katlehong and Daveyton areas where different types of narcotics worth almost R9k, were confiscated.Last night at 21h00 in Palmridge area, the EMPD’s Drug fighting Squad patrolling Tsietsi informal settlement/phase 5 stopped and apprehended a suspicious 26-year old male, after he was found with 22x ziplocks of dagga, 18x mandrax tablets, 7x knotted plastics of nyaope worth R2500 and R1530-90 cash, following a body search. The suspect who was also resisting an arrest, was taken to Eden Park police station.Today (21 Aug) between 00:10 and 1a.m in Daveyton area, acting on a tip off from concerned members of the community, Officers cornered and handcuffed two (2) females and four (4) male suspects between the ages of 19 and 24, inside the Daveyton hostel at room number 90 block C, after 18x ziplocks of dagga, 65x pieces of rock substance, 55x knotted plastics of nyaope, 10x half and full mandrax tablets valued at R5960 with R647 cash, was seized following a thorough search. The half dozen, were taken to Daveyton police station.The arrested seven (7) facing charges of resisting arrest, possession and possible dealing in narcotics, are expected to appear in the Palmridge and Daveyton Magistrate’s Court/s soon
