On Tuesday 18 April 2023 between 07:00 and 09:00, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers, intercepted six (6) African male suspects, between the ages of 20 and 27, for possession and possible dealing in illegal substances, in the Duduza and Tsakane areas.
With the ongoing drive to curb drug dealing in the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE), DEU officers cornered a 29-year-old male suspect on the corner of Mzimande and Khumalo Streets in Duduza, with twenty (20) ziplock bags of CAT, valued at six hundred Rands (R600). Meanwhile, on Molise Street, a 27-year-old male suspect was intercepted with nine (9) full and six (6) half mandrax tablets, valued at six hundred (R600). On Molio Street, members confiscated ten (10) ziplock bags of crystal meth, valued at one thousand five hundred (R1500) from a 24-year-old male suspect. Furthermore, the law enforcers received information from members of the community, about a residence in the Coolbreeze section of Duduza suspected to be a safe house for drug dealing activity, and on arrival discovered two hundred and ninety-three (293) ziplock bags of dagga as well as thirty-five Rands (R35) in cash. As the operation continued in the Tsakane area, a 30-year-old male suspect was cornered on Madina Street in Extension 19 and was found in possession of one (1) ziplock bag of CAT, valued at two hundred Rands (R200).
The six suspects were marched to the Duduza and Tsakane police stations and will appear in the respective Magistrate’s Court soon.
The EMPD applaud its members for the sterling work done and sends a strong warning to lawbreakers dealing in drugs.
