Entrepreneurs living with disabilities received first-hand information on how to grow their business at a service day for Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni on Wednesday, 17 July at Faranani Multipurpose Hall in Tsakane.
Amongst the organisations that attended was Gauteng Enterprise Propeller (GEP) which helps with business start-ups, Companies and Intellectual Property Commission registration. Entrepreneurs were encouraged to visit the site www.gep.co.za for more information and walk-ins are open for all informal traders at 188 Victoria Street in Germiston.
Phumelile Tshiredo from the (GEP) says there are abundant opportunities, with are unfortunately not easily accessible to people living with disabilities.
The city has also partnered with IBASA by paying for services they render, such as business development, mentorship and skill development programmes.
According to the Small Enterprise Development Agency’s 2021 Quarterly Update, SMMEs provide about 9.8 million jobs in South Africa, constituting about 64% of total employment.
