Talks about road safety are conducted by the EMPD

On Monday 24 April 2023 at about 07:00, members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Social Crime Prevention Unit, in conjunction with other stakeholders such as Active Education, South Africa Police Service (SAPS) steered talks on road safety, bullying and gangsterism in schools, in the Kwatsaduza area.

The initiative, aimed at improving awareness of how learners should behave when walking on a public road and crossing the roadway safely, has led to a reduction in the number of school children involved in pedestrian motor vehicle accidents in recent weeks, and the EMPD would like the status quo to remain. Furthermore, the intervention also seeks to address the recurring issues of bullying and gangsterism at a young age, to help curb such behaviour. Among the beneficiaries is Thuthukanisizwe Primary School from the Tsakane area, Gorogang Primary School from Kwa-Thema, and Thakgalang Primary School from Duduza.

The EMPD will continue to run more of these awareness campaigns throughout the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE).
