Telkom Netball League Power Week Is Back

South Africa’s premium netball tournament, The Telkom Netball League (TNL) is headed into its final power week of the tournament. For the past three months, Netball fans, players, coaches and scouts have gathered to watch the best of netball go head-to-head to become the next TNL champions.

This year has showcased the exceptional talent and top goal scorers that the South African netball industry has to offer. The following ladies have shown resilience in their relevant divisions in the hopes to get their team to the final. 

Division 1 – Top Goal Scorers 

Elmere can der Berg hails from North West Flames and is the leading goal scorer for the TNL with 329 Goals. Elmere has cemented herself as the leading goal shooter and represents South Africa in her division. 

Nicole Taljaard is not only the captain for the Southern Stings but is also one of the leading goal shooters for the tournament at 179 goals. 

Rolene Streutker takes third place as a top goal scorer for the Free State Crinums at the TNL, having scored 151 goals thus far. 

Alice Kennon ranks in fourth place for the Gauteng Jaguars and has managed to score 145 goals since the start of the TNL tournament.

Owethu Ngubane, a goal attack and goal shooter for the Golden Fireballs is also the team points machine. Her amazing goalscoring in the TNL has also earned her player of the match and was named the best young player and best goal shooter in the 2021 TNL, Ngubane takes fifth place with 128 goals.

Division 2 – Top Goal Scorers 

Muhluri Hlatshwayo, who made her debut season in 2021 and continues to be an amazing goal shooter for the Limpopo Boababs. For Muhluri’s continued excellent sportsmanship, she ranks in the first position having scored 383 goals for the TNL second division. 

Kaylin Coetzer, grabber her second player of the match accolade the past weekend. Coetzer of the Eastern Cape Aloes has taken the second position by scoring 291 goals scored to date.

Liandre Schoeman has a great future on the cards. She currently plays for the Western Cape Tornados and has scored 252 goals and was also recently awarded player of the match. 

Monique van der Westhuizen contributes to the development and the creation of international opportunities for many players, with Monique’s outstanding goal-scoring performance for the Northern Cape Diamonds ranks in the fourth position with 222 goals scored. 

Atacia Mbuyane, a goal attack for the Mpumalanga Sunbirds has managed back-to-back player of the match awards. Mbuyane takes the fifth position in division 2 having scored 188 goals.

Netball South Africa (NSA) and Telkom, have hosted another amazing season of the TNL. With an amazing 4-year sponsorship, the TNL continues to be the leading netball competition that has contributed to the development and the creation of international opportunities for many players. The TNL continues to be the launch pad for the country’s top up-and-coming players, with many players being granted an opportunity to play at an international level for the national team. 

This week Telkom hosted the Telkom Celebrity Face-Off match on the 15 June 2022 right through to the 19 June at Heart Arena in Pretoria for the finals. team Khutso and team Lasizwe, celebrated youth day at the Netball Celebrity face-off and was broadcasted on on @TelkomOne

The 2022 power week edition of TNL will be played at Pretoria’s Heartfelt Arena between 15-19 June 2022. Tickets for the other fixtures will be available at the venue; R20 for adults and R10 for school children (18 & 19 June R50 for adults and R20 school children) with the action live on SuperSport Variety Channel 209.
