The Municipal Commissioner of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMDP), Municipal Police Commissioner I.J Mapiyeye appoints two of his deputies in the long-awaited Deputy Commissioner posts namely, the Deputy Police Commissioner for Auxiliary and Support Services and Deputy Police Commissioner for Security and Loss Control.
During an intimate ceremony held in Edenvale, the Municipal Police Commissioner conferred the ranks to the appointed Deputy Police Commissioners. In attendance was the Member of the Mayoral Committee, Councillor Letlhogonolo Moseki who commended the Municipal Police Commissioner on building an integrated approach and means of accountability for those in charge. “A ship is better steered when each anchor knows and understands its function, as a boat that is not fastened swings wildly” states the Councillor.
The Municipal Police Commissioner expressed jubilation in the formidable team that has joined forces with him to aid in steering the department, and while doing that, leaving legacies that can be remembered for years to come. “All I want to see is delivery of services, you were chosen amongst the rest” states the Municipal Commissioner.
The Deputy Police Commissioner for Auxiliary and Support Services, DCoP Revo Spies, with an extensive police experience of over thirty-nine (39) years of service, has patiently worked his way up the ranks from a former Constable in the service of the South African Police Services (SAPS) before joining the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD). Tasked with commanding and controlling the Municipal Courts Section under Auxiliary and Support Services, DCoP Revo Spies, has now been tasked with the responsibility of overseeing Logistics, Training, and Municipal Courts.
The Deputy Police Commissioner for Security and Loss Control, DCoP Ndumiso Gcwabe, who also possess a lengthy career in the service of twenty years (20) since joining the EMPD since 2002. As the former Director of Training, DCoP Ndumiso Gcwabe has been tasked with commanding Security and Loss Control for the department.
The Municipal Police Commissioner congratulates both his deputies and encourages them to lead their respective teams with pride and integrity.
