Two suspects were arrested by the EMPD for possession of explosives and bribery
On Tuesday 13 November 2022 at 08:00 in the Daveyton area, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Etwatwa Precinct Officers, arrested a foreign national couple, for possession of explosives and bribery.
While on high visibility, Officers received information from a reliable source, about a certain house on D.M. Mthumunye Street in the Daveyton area (Extension 6), which is suspected to be used by criminals, for harboring stolen items, including explosives. EMPD officers proceeded to the given address and discovered a woven sack bag full of detonating fuses, outside on the doorstep. The house was raided and a 34-year-old female occupant was cornered with more explosives which are: fifteen (15) detonating fuse, one hundred and thirteen (113) blasting cartridges, and twenty-one (21) wiring blasting cartridges.
The female suspect was interrogated, and she made a call to a person, responsible for the uncovered explosives. The 40-year-old male suspect responded and tried to bribe Officers with R6000 before he was handcuffed. Both suspects facing charges of ‘possession of explosives and bribery, were marched to the Daveyton police station.
All the necessary stakeholders were summoned to the crime scene and the duo, is expected to appear in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court soon
