Winners of Mr & Miss Mayfield Square 2021 crowned

The annual event of Mr & Miss Mayfield Square paved the way for a 17-year old Bridgett Nightingale and a 21-year old Thamsanqa Maphaphu to be the queen and king of Mayfield Square 2021.

The beautiful event graced by the presence of a guest performer Lady Zamar, took place at Mayfield Square in Daveyton on Saturday, 16 October 2021.

Nightingale and Maphaphu competed against other 32 hopefuls aged 21 in the Mr & Miss Mayfield Square 2021 contest. Both the queen and king received a two thousand cash price, a laptop, power bank and a router each.

The marketing manager of Mayfield Square, Douglas Mkhonto said it was an amazing experience to host such an event for the first time.

“It’s been an amazing journey and a lovely experience to get such an opportunity to work and engage more with the community. Having to do this kind of event for the very first time, I came with my own feel and touch to it,” said Mkhonto.

He further added that he is looking forward to having more of these events in the next coming years and he is hoping to do them bigger and better.

“I have achieved my goal for the event, usually when we put such events the aim is to empower and find a way to uplift our community. It was a community event and we tried by all means to get local entertainers, including our contesters and suppliers,” he explained.

Winner of Mr Mayfield Square – King 2021, Thamsanqa Maphaphu expressed how grateful he is to have won the title.“I am in disbelief that I have won, looking at the short space of time that I used to prepare myself I didn’t think I will make it. I would like to give thanks to my friends who helped me out through the process and I wouldn’t be holding this title if it wasn’t for them,” said Maphaphu.

Bridgett Nightingale, who was hungry for the title showed great passion throughout the competition.

“I started entering beauty pageants last year, fear overcame me and I didn’t make it. That didn’t break me but it made me stronger because I only desired to be a winner and today I am living my dream,”

“Not everyone can see the beauty in you, it is within you to push yourself and have confidence that you can make it. Today I have seen that it is possible and everything lies in your hands.”Nightingale intends to empower young girls who wish to enter beauty pageants, especially those who have low self-esteem, she wants to nurture and groom them. She is also looking forward to working closely with Mayfield Square.
