Boundary Cash Store was established in 1961, by Mohammed Pandor and Zubieda Pandor.
Prior to the business being permanently taken over by Mohsin, Cassim (Mohsin’s older brother) joined his parents in the business for a short spell. When the business was first established in Rondebult, it was surrounded by plantations. Boundary Cash Store was the first store to supply schools in Vosloorus with school uniforms, later it began to expand its supply chain to schools in Dawn Park, Villa Liza, and Rondebult. In an effort of enriching the communities that support it, the business has ran a series of charity events where it gave school uniforms to underprivileged children and orphans.
Earlier this year the Boundary Cash Store had a competition and a student from Villa Liza High School won a bicycle that was worth R3000. The store owner revealed that it was an honor for them to make one of their customers happy.
He elaborated saying, “The store has been through difficult times, sometimes on the verge of closing, but through the grace of God and the resilience of my father and mother it has managed to stay open all these years,” Mohsin shared with Ekurhuleni News. Due to COVID-19, it has been hard to stay afloat with the business. Since the pandemic arrived a lot of children haven’t been attending school, so uniform sales haven’t been doing well. During the COVID-19 period, Mohsin decided to introduce bicycles, spares, bicycle accessories, a bicycle repairing centre, faxing service, photocopying service, and emailing service into the store and all those services have brought him a whole new customer base. “We have a variety of bicycles for all age groups and sizes,” Pandor explained.
Maria Mavuso who has worked for a business for 30 (thirty) years said that she believes her workplace offers the best quality when it comes to its products and services. “I’ve worked here for a long time I had the pleasure of working with Mohammed and Zubieda Pandor and now I get to work alongside their son,” Maria exclaimed.
Mohsin hopes that one day his son will take over from him, but if he chooses to do something different it wouldn’t be a dilemma. “It’s not a lot of businesses that last this long, but I cannot take the credit because it’s all my parents’ hard work,” Mohsin expressed.
Fortunately for the Boundary Cash Store, its property was protected during the Civil Unrest that took place a month ago. During the unrest, the store was only affected because it had to close for a week.CFP and ADT security managed to protect the store as well as the homes in the community.
“For our 60th anniversary we will run a promotion which offers a 10% discount on all schools uniforms, so look out for the dates, December until the schools reopen,” Mohsin announced, additionally for festival holidays the store sells fireworks.
