“Gauteng Hosts First Construction Expo to Boost Economy”
The Gauteng government organized the first-ever Re Aga Mmogo Construction Expo last Thursday. The aim was to help boost the economy by empowering more people and making sure everyone gets a fair chance.
The event focused on helping small businesses run by women, young people, and those with disabilities to get better at construction work.
During the expo, small businesses talked about the problems they face because of rules and not having enough money.
Premier Panyaza Lesufi talked to everyone at the event and shared plans to start a bank that will lend money to people who need it, especially in townships and for people with disabilities.
He said that construction work is super important for our economy, and the government will make sure to help and protect it.
Looking ahead, he said they plan to build a fast train connecting Tshwane to Limpopo to create more jobs. Also, they will build two new power stations in Gauteng to deal with power cuts.
Lesufi also talked about making better roads for cars that can drive themselves and fixing informal settlements to make our cities better places to live.
He warned contractors that if they don’t finish their projects on time and as planned, they won’t get any more jobs from the government.
The expo had lots of exhibits and quick talks to help people learn from both the government and private companies. With 70 different exhibits, including government departments and banks, everyone got great advice on how to do better in the construction business.
