The prestigious night of Afro-soul, infused Jazz event attained the hearts of the attendees as the headliners (Artists) of the night gave breathtaking performances at the Big Top Arena in Carnival City on Saturday, November 5, 2022.
Making the headlines for the night was the multiple award-winners Ami Faku, Nathi Mankayi, The Soil, and Something Soweto along with the rising Afro Pop stars, Yallunder, Kekelingi, and Nhlonipho.
Thikho Events in partnership with Vth Season took the leap of innovation and pioneered the staples of the new school Afro-Soul & Afro-pop to be performed on the night.
Opening the stage dynamically on the night was the African soul artist, Yolanda Nyembezi known by her stage name Yallunder, with one of her greatest hits ‘uThando Lwam’.
Speaking to Ekurhuleni News, Yallunder mentioned that it has been one heartwarming musical journey for her and being part of the Vth Season is a highlight.
“Today meant a lot for me, you know if you are the first person to open the show in such a big space it takes a lot from you, however, the audience and the reception were just amazing and I am forever grateful for this opportunity,” exclaimed Yallunder.
“The passion for music grew up in me when I was still young and to get to where I am today. Tonight was just amazing. I didn’t expect people to cheer and sing along with me. For a first-timer like me the energy that I got was astonishing,” said the songwriter Nhlonipho.
The Vth Season’s Head of A& R and chief Opportunity Creator, Raphael Benza mentioned that if there is one thing that the past two years have taught them, it has to be the value of crisis in birthing opportunities. At the heart of Vth Season’s partnership with Thikho Events lies not only new beginnings for South Africa’s A-Lister Afro Soul and Afro-Pop royalty, but they also champion providing upcoming multi-talented singers and songwriters with an audience whom they can transform from passive listeners to die-hard fans of their music.
“Accessibility is the new cultural placeholder in our industry and we strive to expand our reach and pivot to the global arena straightening the narrative of African legends and legends in the making in the larger history of music across the board,” added Benza.
Taking pointers from the audience, Rorisang Moloi vocalized by sharing her highlight of the day.
“Tonight has to be one of the best nights I have ever had in the year 2022, I am an Afro-Jazz person, and vibing with the artists while they were performing was breathtaking. I am an old fan of The Soil and Ami Faku, seeing them on stage today was a dream come true. I am a happy soul”.
Closing the night with their astonishing performance was The Soil which carried the standard of the previous performances. While on stage Buhle mentioned that it is good to be back after a long break from the pandemic and they can’t wait to sing and perform like the good old days.
