Customers were delighted and excited to buy their essentials at Chris Hani Crossing that re-opened yesterday (6 August 2021).
The three major grocery stores (Pick n’ Pay, Shoprite and Boxer) that are based in the business centre are fully functional now, including the following restaurants: Mcdonald’s, Roman’s Pizza and KFC.
The loyal shoppers who came to buy openly divulged how it was distressing for them to see their reliable supplier of essentials vandalised by rebels and criminals. They further disclosed that the looting phase that crippled the shopping centre affected them immensely.
A shopper ( Siphiwe Moeketsi (24)from Basothong in Vosloorus) who graced the shopping centre as it re-opened couldn’t hold back her excitement, she promptly said, “I can’t believe that they have really re-opened some of the shops here at Chris Hani Crossing today, I can’t truly express how I’m feeling, but when I arrived here I felt relieved. Nevertheless, I hope the anarchy that happened here and in some parts of our country will never happen again.”
Another consumer Lindani Siyenge who also resides in Vosloorus, but in Extension 25, embodied the same euphoria as the other shoppers, then said “Now I don’t have to travel to complexes that are far away, because they have re-opened my beloved mall, I’m truly happy, I’m just overwhelmed with joy,” she uttered.
A Roman’s Pizza Area Manager at Chris Hani Crossing, Lung Sithole seized the opportunity to express what was deeply in her heart.
“I’m happy that my job is still secured as the restaurant is operational again. I also hope things will become better in time, I had lost hope because of what transpired here at the mall, nonetheless slowly but surely the broken pieces are glued together again. My hope has been redeemed and as people, we must learn to value our shopping centres.
