09 April 2022- at 08:45 members of the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Taxi Task Team arrested a Zimbabwean male aged 36 at Vlakfontein Road and Wit Poort Road Springs.
EMPD members stopped a blue Ford Fiesta Hatch and interviewed the suspect requesting his driver’s license. Upon request, members discovered that the suspect was a Zimbabwean national with a valid passport.
Furthermore, members requested to search the suspect’s vehicle and found a black refuse bag wrapped with brown tape on the back seat which the suspect claimed to be a blanket. Upon opening the plastic bag members discovered counterfeit items. Members then called customs (SARS) to verify the goods and declared them as counterfeit items.
The suspect was arrested on the spot and detained at Springs SAPS for Possession of counterfeit items and will appear in court soon.
