Daveyton_The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) officers apprehended two African males and one African female at Putfontein, Daveyton on Tuesday 3 May 2022 after receiving intel from an informant that the trio were involved in a missing person’s case. The informant alleged that the trio had murdered the missing person and buried his remains at one of the suspects’ domiciles.
The officers, equipped with this information, went to the Mokgoba section in Putfontein where two suspects were arrested. The two suspects pointed out to the third suspect’s domicile.
Preliminary investigation revealed the existence of a shallow grave in the backyard, with the assistance of the SAPS Putfontein officers dug up the shallow grave and discovered the body of a black male who was reported missing at Putfontein SAPS.
The suspects were detained at the Putfontein SAPS and charged with murder, more charges will be added, and the trio is expected to appear in court soon.
Norkem Park_In a separate incident, EMPD officers stopped a vehicle which matched a description of another vehicle, given as a lookout, alleged to be involved in a robbery of cellphones in Norkem Park on the 4th of May 2022. The suspect held people hostage at gunpoint, in Ackermans, Norkem Park, were an undisclosed amount of cellphones was pocketed.
Upon conducting the search, the pocketed cellphones were discovered inside the vehicle, and the perpetrator was cuffed on the spot, and charged with possession of goods suspected to be stolen. He is detained at the Kempton Park SAPS, free from injuries.
